Consider Remodeling your Kitchen as your Holiday Gift to Yourself!

For many homeowners, the kitchen is the most highly used and trafficked room in the house. It is a gathering place for both the family and guests alike; and even if cooking isn't really your strong suit, it's still important to be happy with the space that you have and proud to show off your kitchen. There are four different areas to consider when planning for a kitchen remodel.
Cabinets: One way to dramatically alter the look of your kitchen is to enhance your cabinetry. There are so

many options in color, style, fixture layout and knobs. Both the design and layout of your cabinets is critical in obtaining a kitchen that works best with your everyday life. Rendon Remodeling & Design, LLC works directly with our client and our designer to develop the best possible kitchen space for your needs.

#1. Color: The traditional Wood look is still very popular and yields many different shades to choose from. You also have options such as glazed finishes, natural looks or even painted finishes. Many homeowners today even elect for a look combining a couple finishes.

#2. Style: Bold corners and defined edges, elegant engraving or simple patterns are subtle but impacting features to your overall look. Adding crown moldings or additional trim pieces can personalize your kitchen design.

#3. Fixture Layout: Your appliances play an important role in your cabinet layout. A refrigerator, sink, dishwasher and stove are just some of the equipment that must be organized within your cabinet space. Rendon Remodeling & Design, LLC will help guide you with what works best with the space you have for your new kitchen design.

#4. Knobs: Believe it or not, knobs stand out. There are endless options of size, style, color and placement for cabinet and drawer knobs. Rendon Remodeling & Design, LLC's consultant, Amy, will work with you to assist in finding the style that works best with your individual taste.

Flooring: Even though it's below eye level, the flooring in a room will complete the look and contribute to the overall feel of your kitchen.

#1. Wood floors don't always have to be wood. There are many other materials, such as bamboo, that are still inexpensive but look and feel just as good. Wood floors are still a popular floor finish and come with a variety of sizes, colors and finishes. Many clients also choose an eco-friendly option such as Bamboo.

#2. Linoleum is a less costly option. It comes in all different styles and can be replaced if damaged. Vinyl floor options are also considered often. There are many to choose from. Sometimes the less expensive route is the way to go, but many vinyl options are high-end products which can mimic the look of tile. Vinyl floors tend to be a warmer floor, therefore, can also be a good choice on concrete slabs.

#3. Tile can come in ceramic, porcelain or stone. The options are endless and give you a more custom look.

Countertops: The most used item in the kitchen is often considered the focal point of the kitchen. The counters should be durable for everyday use as well as an enhancement to the kitchen. Over the years the options have become endless.

#1. Granite, Marble, Soapstone and Quartz are beautiful non-porous stone materials that are stain, heat, scratch and impact resistant. Today's stones require a lot less maintenance and come in a variety of beautiful looks and styles. Homeowners pay close attention to the layout of their countertop as it relates to the design aspect of their new kitchen; from tones to edges selected.

#2. Laminate is the most affordable option for countertops. There are still many options to choose from and there are patterns that closely resemble more costly materials. Although laminates are used less frequently, the manufacturers have done a good job in developing styles that can create a more high-end look without the cost. Laminate tops are great for mudrooms, laundry rooms and craft rooms.

#3. Wood isn't very common in highly used kitchens but does have a specific

style that might be the right fit for you. Butcher block tops are sometimes added to work areas in combination with other countertop materials.

#4. Stainless Steel has been growing in popularity because of it's ease with cleaning and the industrial appeal it gives.

#5. Glass works great when choosing the color and shape for your countertops. The possibilities are limitless for this modern style.

#6. Recycled materials, Concrete, Travertine and Tile are a few alternative looks that are great options for your new kitchen.

Accessories: These items are a great way to accent the room. You can mix and match to create dynamic and it allows you to continue creating your look over time.

#1. Stainless Steel is both modern and classy. It matches most other materials and can change the look of your kitchen drastically. Manufacturers have done a great job developing sinks, faucets and accessories that match the stainless steel appliance finishes for a consistent look throughout your new kitchen.

#2. Kitchen Islands are very versatile. They provide practical counter and cabinet space while adding another element to your overall look. An Island can be small and mobile with the use of wheels; or it can be a permanent part of the kitchen, providing additional seating.
When considering an island, you don't have to follow the traditional layout where major appliances, such as the sink, oven etc, are against the kitchen walls. Instead, try placing one, like your stove, in the island. This will enable you to cook and socialized at the same time. By utilizing the extra counter space that an island provides, you are inviting another dynamic to your cooking experience and opening up your kitchen to guests and gatherings in your home.

#3. A Bar can be built into a counter or wall, creating an upscale feel using entertainment features such as wine fridge and wine rack.
